War artist Ted Zuber receives medal

March 16, 2012 by Sharon Adams

War artist Ted Zuber   is among those recently awarded Ambassadors for Peace Medals in Canada by the Republic of Korea.

Zuber served in South Korea with the Royal Canadian Regiment in 1952, and kept a sketch diary of his experiences.  He was in the Gulf War in 1991, too, part of  the Canadian Armed Force’s Civilian Artists Program.

Thirteen of his paintings are in the Canadian War Museum collection. He is also covered in Legion Magazine stories on the Canadian Forces Artists Program and Korean War veterans pilgrimage.

Normally the medals are presented to veterans who return to South Korea, but the Republic of Korea also presents medals to veterans unable to travel back.
