Breaking News! The Kandahar Memorial is Home

January 6, 2012 by Adam Day

Despite the Pakistani ‘blockade’ on Canadian cargo being shipped out of Afghanistan, the memorial to Canada’s Afghan war dead has arrived safely in Ottawa.

According to sources at Canada Command, the memorial was flown into Trenton and carried to Ottawa, under escort, on two flat bed trucks.

The memorial, which was disassembled in Kandahar this past November, is now resting inside its shipping crates at an undisclosed location in Ottawa.

At some point in the future — likely around 2014 — the memorial will be unveiled at its new permanent home somewhere in the national capital region.
